Because all sane people cry about cupcakes
I bake sometimes, usually for people’s birthdays or to bring into the office [that’s how I get people at work to like me without actually having to do a good job]. And when I do bake, I’m often up till 2 – 3am doing it [I’m obviously baking wrong].
Nobody asks me to do this. Nobody even expects me to do this.
So why do I do it?
Because I’m crazy.
Last night was no exception. It was my co-worker’s birthday yesterday and I decided to make her baked white chocolate & raspberry cheesecake cupcakes with an Oreo cookie base, using a new recipe.
Things went wrong even before I started:
- I forgot to buy caster sugar.
- My blender broke.
- My dog threw up.
But I decided to persevere. I was committed to making these cupcakes that nobody asked me to make or even knew I was making.
10.30pm: White chocolate was melted.
11.30pm: Cheesecake filling was completed.
11.45pm: Cupcakes went into the oven.
12.10am: Halfway point check. Looking good.
12.30am: Baking completed. Let them cool overnight and I will pack them in the morning. I’m feeling good.
……………
This morning:
I cried. Like real tears. Because, you know, cupcakes are extremely important and you should definitely cry about them.
Now I’m running late for work because I was busy taking these pictures and writing this post.
……………
Later this morning:
Oh and of course, I start my period when I get to work. Just the icing on the cake.
Cake…
Cupcakes…
*Cries and eats that entire container of cheesecake goop*
So what has happened since May of 2015?
